Star Wars Galaxy 5 started me in the sketchcard game. For those that don’t know sketchcards are trading cards that are given to various artists, they sketch, draw, paint, or color them into little mini masterpieces in some cases, or neat little pieces of art in others. I was lucky enough to have the one and only SUCKLORD get me on board for the Topps Star Wars Galaxy 5 shaped sketch cards sub-set. The shaped set was a first as these cards weren’t the traditional rectangle set, and the artists on the set were more underground or street artists. Here are a few examples of what I was able to come up with. To my knowledge, I was the first guy to give the linocut a try on these. I think they turned out pretty well.

So, this opened a few doors for me creatively. I’ve been very fortunate to have Upper Deck add me to a few pretty big card sets. I’ve got “sketchcards” coming out in two sets this year from them. I’ve been involved in the Voltron: United and Drawn book which features some very very cool art from some very talented folks. I’ve been included in the CBLDF Liberty set from Cryptozoic.
All in all I’m pretty thankful for being able to be a part of some really kick ass sketch card releases. I look forward to 2012, it’s going to be huge. I’ve got a couple of surprises in store for everyone. Tell your friends about this place. Check out the shop. And please spread the word. I’ll do my best to keep everyone entertained. I’m going to do at least one convention this year, details to come.
And most of all, thanks to everyone that comes by to check out my art. I really do appreciate it.

I’m honored to announce that I am officially on the upcoming Avengers Assemble Trading Card and Marvel Beginnings 2 sets as an official sketch card artist. I’ve got a couple of cool things planned for these sets and I’ve already begun work on them, however they all remain blank. Sometimes the prep work seems to take more time than the actual creation of the card itself. I do have plans on puzzles for this go around. So keep your eyes peeled for these trading card sets to be released later in 2012.
The Avengers Assemble Trading Card set is the official trading card for the upcoming Avengers movie.
The Marvel Beginnings 2 set is a follow up to the kick ass Marvel Beginnings set released last year.
I’ll update with more specifics about the products when I have them. Both sets are being issued by Upper Deck.

It’s a new year, so I’ve changed up the site just a bit. Big things are instore for 2012, Marvel Beginnings 2, The Avengers Movie, and Tarzan are a couple of the trading card sets I’ll be doing sketch cards for. In fact, my Tarzan cards are completed and ready to send back to Cryptozoic. I don’t know the actual release date, but when I do I’ll update everyone. And once my cards are approved, I’ll flip them over and show a couple off. Let’s just say that I’ve not seen sketch cards done like this before. Hopefully they will be well received as it wasn’t easily done.

Don’t forget I’m also open for commission work. Prices vary with size of course. 2012 is going to be a super busy year for me artistically, so if you want on the commission list, now’s the time to get on it. Here are a couple of quick examples of a couple of commission pieces.

Also, look for me at the Dallas Comic Con in May. Once I have confirmation of my table assignment, I’ll be sure to let everyone know. Patrick Stewart will be there too, so make your plans to attend.
